Matt Washchuk represents indigent parents and children in juvenile dependency cases involving abuse and neglect, in addition to representing children accused of misdemeanor and felony crimes. Since his admission to the Oregon State Bar in 2008, he has worked collaboratively with hundreds of families both in the courtroom and across the table to protect his clients’ rights.

Matt has presented at the Oregon Criminal Defense Lawyers Association on topics such as parental and child alienation in juvenile dependency cases, as well as developing legal strategies for helping parents avoid jurisdictional findings. He is the author of The Delinquency Disposition chapter of the 2019 Oregon State Bar Juvenile Law: Delinquency book. He is also qualified as a judge pro tem in Multnomah County.

Matt received his Juris Doctorate from Lewis & Clark Law School in 2008. While in law school, Matt clerked for Multnomah Defenders, Inc., where he represented indigent criminal defendants. He was also an associate editor of Animal Law Review and advised low-income clients on their bankruptcy petitions at the Lewis & Clark Legal Clinic.

When he is not working, he can be found spending time with family, attending Portland Timbers games, and baking pizza.
